Dr. Chinmay Hazra is a Young Scientist at Department of Biotechnology, Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur and a National Postdoctoral Fellow (2016-2018). He holds B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. degree from North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon - all in Microbiology. During his Ph.D. tenure, he worked on microbial production of biosurfactants as a DST-INSPIRE Fellow. His current research interests encompass green bioprocess & bioproduct development (microbial green surfactants and biopolymers R&D and scale-up); bioremediation; surfactants chemistry & colloids at the biointerfaces. Currently he oversees several sponsored projects investigating upstream & downstream processing of biomolecules, algal refinery, and green synthesis of nanoparticles and nanocomposites in Bioprocess and Bioproduct Development Laboratory (BBD-L, IIT Kharagpur). Dr. Hazra with h-index-12, has published more than 25 research publications in international journals, book chapters, and conference proceedings, one book and one patent application to his credit. Dr. Hazra has completed 02 multidisciplinary sponsored projects (SERB and DST) and now implementing 01 sponsored project (DST-SEED). He is a recognized reviewer for several international journals (Elsevier, Springer Nature, T&F, Wiley/AOCS and others). He served as an intermediate guide / mentor for 20 UG / PG students in North Maharashtra University, Jalgaon and in IIT Kharagpur. He is a member of Biotech Research Society, India (BRSI) and Asian Federation of Biotechnology (AFOB).
